Wine is no longer a status symbol – those days are now fading away. Not a luxury product in large quantities, as throughout all those hype years. No longer a hobby only for people with money. Wine was and is conversation. Encounter. Contradiction in a glass. And now that wine is returning to normality, we also want to write more about and praise wines that for many years represented a loss of distinction – in other words, NON-garage wines, NON-natural wines, NON-Jura wines, etc. And also about wines whose traditions have been endangered by wine fashions.
Write more, more bottles, drink more. And not just wine, but also its alternatives (sounds better than the word used in wartime, proxies):
That is why WINEPARTY is now launching DRINK.
A social media platform for everyone, where the only things that count are what was in the bottle. And what remains in your head. A photo is enough. One sentence will do. A video, a thought, a fleeting fit of anger at “a Pinotgritscho”, enthusiastic excitement about “a bloody great Pinot” – everything is welcome. The main thing is that it entertains!
DRINK is not a playground for wine enthusiasts – and yet.
DRINK is the digital regulars’ table for those who drink because they live – and not because they collect.
DRINK goes online on Saturday at 00:01.
And we are looking for: Test drinkers. People with a head, an opinion, fingers and a smartphone.
Two prizes. Two bottles. Two reasons to take part:
- Whoever posts the most wines (period: 8 weeks), gets a brilliant bottle of great wine.
- Whoever writes the best texts, also gets one brilliant bottle of great wine.
- And whoever can do both gets two. Obviously.
DRINK wants out of the circle. Out of the same old tasting notes.
What is missing is not expertise – but experience (which does not mean that newcomers would not be welcome – quite the opposite). What is missing is a language that comes from everyday life.
Not just: “Pale yellow with greenish highlights.” But: “Drinks like the first evening without any obligations.”
Not just: “Juicy fruit, fine acidity.” But: “Reminds me of that afternoon when I missed the bus and went back to the pub to carry on drinking.”
DRINK is a place where nobody passes judgement – but bears witness.
Whether a supermarket find or a Demeter Pet Nat, an alcohol-free cuvée or a cider from the edge of the world: here, what matters is not what it cost. But what it set off.
„“Drinking is not a privilege. Drinking is a gesture,” someone wrote on one of our first test screens.
That is precisely it. DRINK is the invitation to show this gesture.
DRINK is where someone raises a glass at half past midnight and writes:
“This Kabi is like confessing to the wrong person.”
Or: “A Pet Nat like vegetable compote. But it puts you in a good mood.”
So: open a bottle. Take a photo. Write some text.
DRINK doesn’t belong to the loud ones. But to the thirsty.
We drink. We post. We are DRINK. At 00:01 on Saturday morning in the Mega-BETA. Then the link will also be available here for everyone interested.
